Updating Your Device Firmware via Local 
Software

Some software updates cannot be updated wirelessly 
and require a direct computer connection which utilizes 
an upgrade tool. For these kinds of updates, your 
device will provide an onscreen message notifying you 
of the available update; it will direct you to an online 
website where you can obtain the necessary files. 
These local software updates require a computer, USB 
cable and the upgrade software.

For further detailed instructions on usage of the tool 
and the update process, visit:

Before Using the Firmware Upgrade Tool

Confirm you meet all of the following requirements:

A desktop/laptop computer running:

Microsoft Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4

●

Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2 
(Home or Professional)

●

Windows Vista (Home, Premium, Business or 
Ultimate)

●

Windows 7

200MB open hard disk space on the computer. 

䡲

All Firewall & Anti-Virus Programs should be 
temporarily disabled until the update process is 
completed. 

䡲

Administrative privileges are required to 
download & install software. 

䡲

Available USB Port on the connected computer.

䡲

Direct connection of the USB cable to the 
computer's USB port is strongly advised. The use 
of a USB hub or docking station is NOT 
recommended. 

Important:

Any previous version of the Samsung Drivers 
must first be uninstalled, prior to installing the new 
M900 Software Update tool.

Note:

Before initiating this update, it is recommended that you 
backup your information.
