Adjusting the focus area
You can get clearer photos by selecting an appropriate focus area according to your
subject's location in the scene.

Description
Center AF
: Focus on the center of the frame (suitable when
subjects are located at or near the center).
Multi AF
: Focus on one or more of 9 possible areas.
Tracking AF
: Focus on and track the subject. (p. 57)
Available options may differ depending on the shooting conditions.

Normal (AF)
: Focus on a subject farther than 31 in. (80 cm) away.
Farther than 98 in. (250 cm) away when you use the zoom.
Macro
: Focus on a subject that is 2-31 in. (5–80 cm) from the
camera. 39–98 in. (100–250 cm) when you use the zoom.
Auto Macro
:

Focus on a subject farther than 2 in. (5 cm) away. Farther than
39 in. (100 cm) away when you use the zoom.
•
Auto Macro is set automatically in some modes. You cannot set it
manually.
