12.5 Replacing the plug
If a leak is found in the fl ow, the seat and plug can be defective.
Ö
Check the condition of the plug.
Disassemble the valve for the removal of the bellows. For this
purpose, observe Chapter “1 Safety instructions and safety
measures”.
Ö
Clamp the assembled valve with the bonnet fl ange facing up
in a vice.
Ö
Release the screws (36) and, depending on the design, the
nuts (37).
Ö
Carefully lift the bonnet fl ange up off the valve body and
place it on a clean, even surface.
Ö
Check the plug, bellows as well as all plastic parts for dam-
age and if in doubt replace them.
Ö
Assemble the valve as described in Chapter 3.5.1 and
Chapter 3.5.2.
12.6 Additional repairs
Ö
In the case of additional major damage, it is recommended
to have repairs performed by PFEIFFER.
Ö
Tighten the stuf fi ng box.
The valve is tight again but must be repaired as soon as possible,
as there is no primary sealing and the stuf
fi ng box should be
sealed only for a short period.
Ö
The repair must be made as described in Chapter “12.1 Re-
placing the bellows”.
12.4 Replacing the seat
If a leak is found in the fl ow, the seat and plug can be defective.
Ö
Check the condition of the seat.
Disassemble the valve for the removal of the seat. For this
purpose, observe Chapter “1 Safety instructions and safety
measures”.
Ö
Clamp the valve with the stem guide facing down in a vice.
Ö
Release the screws (11) and, depending on the design, the
nuts (12).
Ö
Remove the bottom fl ange (10).
Ö
Remove the washer (6) and inlay (7), thrust washer (8) and
spring washer (9), if applicable.
Ö
Undo and remove the spacer (5).
Ö
Remove the seat (4).
Ö
Check the seat as well as all plastic parts for damage and if
in doubt replace them.
Ö
Assemble the valve as described in Chapter 3.5.1 and Chap-
ter 3.5.2.
