Description and Operation of Hydraulic system
2-4-5. Description and operation of steering circuit
Description
・
The steering system consists of steering/
charge pump (4), line filter (5), steering
valve (Orbitrol) (7) and steering cylinder (8).
The steering mechanism is of an articulated
type in which the machine frame is
articulated at its center.
Operation
・
Oil from gear pump (4) enters steering
valve (7). Then the valve feeds an amount
of oil into cylinder (8) in accordance with
the direction and speed in and at which the
steering wheel is rotated.
・
The steering fluid fed into steering cylinder
(8) moves the piston rod to achieve
steering. The fluid displaced from the
opposite side of the piston flows, through
steering valve (7) and line filter (5), to the
charge circuit of the propulsion pump.
・
Relief valve (a) built in steering valve (7)
opens to vent the excessive pressure to the
tank if it exceeds the setting of the relief
valve, thus preventing damage to the
steering system.
