CAUTION!
Risk of accident!
• For your own safety when riding your motorcycle, the mirror must be installed
in such a way that it gives you an adequate view of following traffic.
• The mirror must be securely installed—if it were to fall off, it could endanger
other road users and cause an accident.
• When installing the mirror stem on the handlebar end, you must ensure that it
does not prevent the throttle twistgrip from moving freely. The twistgrip must
be able to spring back by itself from any position when you release it.
IMPORTANT!
Risk of damage!
• Ensure that the mirror never makes contact with any other part of the vehicle
(fairing, tank etc.) and does not impede the rider in any way, even when the
handlebar is turned to full lock.
• After installation and before every journey, check that the mirror is secure and
adjusted properly.
4 | Installation
4.1 | Preparation
Before starting work on your bike, find a suitable place where you can work undisturbed and tidily.
Set out your tools and the parts you need, place the motorcycle safely on the stand and fully cover
the bike tank with a cloth to protect the paintwork. In order to install this saito Universal Bar-end
Mirror, your motorcycle needs to have a handlebar with a 22.2 mm or 25.4 mm outside diameter.
4.2 | Installation
If you are going to clamp the mirror on the end of the handlebar tube, you will need to move the
controls and rubber grips a bit nearer the middle of the handlebar.
IMPORTANT!
Risk of damage!
• If the controls are fixed to the handlebar by pins, you will need to drill new
holes for the pins in order to reposition the controls. Follow the manufacturer's
instructions. If your motorcycle has an aftermarket handlebar, you must comply
with the requirements of the type approval.
If you do not wish to move the controls, or if there is not sufficient space, you will need to purchase
special bar ends for mirrors and install them in the handlebar tube. If the bar end is freely accessible
(hollow) and not obstructed by an internal thread, you can use bar ends which have an internal metal
clamp. But if your handlebar has a threaded bushing, you will need a bar end that is compatible with
the thread. Always follow the instructions supplied with the bar ends.
Loosely fit the saito Universal Bar-end Mirror, either with or without a reducer sleeve, depending on
the diameter of the handlebar or bar end. Tighten the hex socket screw (5 mm wrench) slightly. Then
sit on your motorcycle and adjust the mirror so that it gives you the best possible view of following
traffic. On the right end of the handlebar, make sure that the mirror stem does not press against the
throttle twistgrip. It is essential that the throttle turns freely and springs back automatically when you
release it. Once you have adjusted the mirror to the best position, tighten it fully to the handlebar so
that it cannot be moved by the airstream when you ride your motorcycle. It is strongly recommended
to go for a test ride to familiarise yourself with the changes you have made to your motorcycle.
