To the right of the

icon on the dialing screen are several

status icons:

Icon

Function

Battery level indicator

Voice call in progress

Data call in progress

Fax call in progress

New message in your voice mail box

Silent mode active (if selected)

Hands-free mode active (during a call if selected)

Signal strength and roaming (5 progressively higher
vertical bars and a small antenna). If roaming, a
“running” script “R” replaces the antenna. A
flashing antenna indicates the absence of a steady
signal.

Beneath the row of status icons is the

message area

.

Information such as the caller’s name and the number, and
the status messages such as “Emergency call mode”, are
displayed in this part of the dialing screen. The message
area expands to reveal information about multiple calls in

progress when you press the Call Status button (

).
