Load Software Updates
When a new software image is downloaded, the HA4000 data is not affected.
Saved security policies and configurations are preserved. The HA4000 remains
operational during software downloads.
Note:
Before downloading any software update, read the associated
release notes for update-specific installation instructions and caveats.
Caution
To activate the new software, the HA4000 must be rebooted. Unsaved
configurations in memory are lost. Save the configuration file before rebooting the
HA4000 to activate the new software. Make a backup of the current software
Note:
image before downloading a new one, as described in the steps below.
1. Log on as Network Manager.
2. Configure the FTP client, as described in “Configure the FTP Client” on
page 42.
3. At the
admin>
prompt, enter this command:
copy nvram:fs nvram:fs-backup
4. Download new software; enter this command:
copy ftp:fs nvram:fs
The CLI is disabled while the file is transferred. When the file transfer is
complete, the command prompt displays.
Note:
To protect existing security policies and system configurations from
being overwritten, two system files are omitted from the upgrade software:
root.xml
and
cryptoConfig.xml
. Disregard any error messages that are
generated during the file transfer regarding these two files.
5. Activate the system; enter the
reboot
command.
Install Certificates
The only time the HA4000 uses certificates is when HTTPS is used on the
management port to secure the SMC. The HA4000 contains a self-signed
certificate, referred to as an ID certificate, to enable the SSL communication. You
can replace the self-signed certificate; this is optional and not required for proper
operation of the unit.
