Introduction
This addendum supplements manual number 9350-7077-300, Revision B, “CSedit Intercom Configuration Software for
ADAM and ADAM CS Intercom Systems”. It describes the logging feature which was added to CSedit.
Logging Description
You use logging to record intercom key activations and deactivations. Each time a key is pressed or released, a new
record is created. If you select Log to File, each new record will be uploaded to the configuration computer and
appended to a text file. You specify the directory where the text file is stored (the default directory is the directory
where the CSedit program is located), while the name for the text file is created by CSedit and is of the format
yearmonthday.log. Example 970609.log would be the log file created for June 9, 1997.
If you select Log to Port, the log data is output on a dedicated RS232 port of the intercom system. If you have the
appropriate communications software to communicate with this port, you can use it to capture the logging text to a file
or to monitor intercom activity. For the ADAM Intercom System, the dedicated logging port is located on J9 of the
XCP-ADAM-MC Master Controller Breakout Panel: pin 3 is RX and pin 8 is TX. For the ADAM CS Intercom Frame,
the dedicated logging port is located on J902: pin 3 is RX and pin 8 is TX. In either case, the port parameters are 9600
baud, no parity, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit. There is no handshaking on this port.
The format for each log record is as follows:
Yymmdd,hhmmssff,nnn,aaaa,mm,ff,nnn,aaaa,xx,(27 blank spaces)
Each log record ends with a DOS new-line (carriage return/line feed). Total record length is 70 characters, plus the
CR/LF. The data fields in each record are delimited by commas, and the data in the fields are as follows:
yymmdd - Date
hhmmssff - Time (ff = frames)
nnn,aaaa - requester's port number and corresponding 4-character alpha
mm,ff,nnn, aaaa - target matrix number, function type, function number, function alpha. (Target matrix number 00
means the local matrix.)
xx - one of the 4 pairs TY, TN, LY, or LN, where T=talk, L=Listen, Y=yes (key on), and N=no (key off)
Example: if a keypanel at intercom port 4 with alpha "DIR " calls local party-line 3 with alpha "CAM ", the following
might be logged:
970522,17220413,004,DIR ,00,PL,003,CAM ,TY,(27 blank spaces)
There are some peculiarities when it comes to trunking. For example, suppose JOE calls FRED (a P-P in a different
matrix). A line such as the following might be logged: date/time,017,JOE ,07,PP,103,FRED,TY,(27 blank spaces)
This might then be followed by one or two lines which connect JOE to a trunk. For example, the following line might
get added: date/time,041,TK19,00,PP,017,JOE ,LY,(27 blank spaces). This reflects that port 41 (trunk 19) effectively
turned on a listen key assigned to JOE so that the trunk could hear Joe, i.e. so that Joe's audio is fed to the trunk.
