As soon as your vacuum cleaner starts to malfunction, and before performing any checks:
stop the appliance by pressing the Start/Stop button and unplug it.
Your appliance does not start or does not vacuum.
• The appliance is not plugged in
Check that the appliance has not been unplugged, and plug it back in if necessary (see §4).
• The hose or tool is blocked
Unblock the hose or tool.
• The separator is blocked
Remove the lid and clean the separator (see §9).
• The foam and the filter are blocked
Wash the foam and the filter (see §9). If the filter is damaged, change it (Ref. ZR 0008).
Your appliance performs poorly, makes some noise, whistles and stops.
• The hose or tool is partly blocked
Unblock the hose or tool.
• The dust collection container is full
Empty the dust collection container (see §8).
• The dust collection container lids or the separator lid are not properly in place
Check that the dust collection container lids and the separator lid are in place and properly
closed (see §9).
• The separator lid seal is absent or out of place
Check that the seal is correctly in place.
• The dust collection container and its lids are dirty
Clean the dust collection container and its lids (see §9).
• The filtration system is saturated
Clean and wash the foam and the filter (see §9).
• The dust collection container is not properly in its place
Push it until you hear the locking “click” (see §8).
• The separator is blocked
Remove the separator lid and clean the separator (see §9).
• The suction regulation control is open
Close it (see §5).
The separator remains full of dust.
• Dust does not stay in the dust collection container and goes back in the separator
Check that the dust collection lids are clean and correctly in place (see §8).
• Dust piles up in the separator
Check that nothing is blocking the hole between the separator and the dust collection
container (see §8).
• The dust collection container is blocked
Remove and empty the dust collection container (see §8).
Suction is weak.
• There is an air leak
Check that the dust collection container is properly locked. Check that the filtration system is
in place (see §9).
• The filtration system light is on : the foam and the filter are blocked
Clean and wash the foam and the filter (see §9). If the filter is damaged, change it
(Ref. ZR 0008). If the problem persists, take the appliance to your nearest Rowenta Approved
Service Centre.
The power cord does not fully retract.
• The cord slows down as it is retracted
Pull out the cord until completely extended and press on the cord rewind command (see §6).
Your vacuum cleaner no longer diffuses scent.

• There is no more perfume in the ceramic
Put a few more drops of perfume on the ceramic (see §3). If drops of perfume fall on the
product, wipe the appliance immediately with a moist cloth.
If the problem persists, take the appliance to your nearest Rowenta Approved Service
