Rosemount Model P300 Pressure Validator

POWER SOURCES

The validator can be powered by:

• Four standard dry D cell batteries

• Four alkaline D cell batteries

• Four rechargeable D cell batteries

• An ac power adapter/charger unit

The rechargeable batteries and power adapter/charger unit are optional
accessories.

The instrument can be operated while charging.

NOTES

The ac adapter/charger unit must supply power at 9 v dc and 500 mA,
center pole negative. If using a device not shipped with the validator,
ensure that it operates at this voltage, current, and polarity.

Do not attempt to charge dry cell batteries. If the battery compartment
contains standard or alkaline D cells, the validator must be set to

DRY

If the battery compartment contains rechargeable batteries, the
validator must be set to

NICAD

. See Setting Battery Status on page

3-2.

Old batteries can leak and cause corrosion. Never leave discharged
batteries in the validator.

Installing Batteries

For a diagram of the battery compartment, see Figure 2-1.

To install batteries:

1. Turn the validator over. Unscrew the battery cover and open the

lid.

2. Insert the batteries in accordance with the indicated polarity.

3. Replace the cover and tighten the screws. Turn the validator on

by pressing the

key. A beep will sound, and the secondary

display will show the battery status, e.g.,

BATTERY

4. If dry cells are installed and

BATTERY

LOW

is displayed, replace

them with new cells. If rechargeable cells are installed, connect to
the adapter/charger unit to charge them.

5. Ensure that the battery status is set correctly in

SETUP

mode for

the type of cells installed.
