ProbleM
Possible Cause
solutioN
1) Excessive
vibration.
1. blade out of balance.
2. blade is damaged.
3. saw is not mounted securely.
4. Work surface is uneven.
5. blade is warped.
1. Replace blade.
2. Replace blade.
3. Tighten all hardware.
4. Reposition on flat surface. adjust legs.
5. Check saw blade installation. Replace
blade if necessary.
2) Rip fence does not
move smoothly.
1. Rip fence not mounted correctly.
2. Rails are dirty or sticky.
3. Clamp screw is out of adjustment.
1. Remount the rip fence.
2. Clean and wax rails.
3. adjust clamp screw.
3) Cutting stalls
motor, burns work.
binds, stops when
ripping.
1. dull blade.
2. feed rate too fast.
3. Rip fence not parallel to blade (miter slot).
4. spreader out of alignment.
5. sawdust between timber and guide fence.
6. Warped board.
1. Replace blade or sharpen.
2. slow feed rate.
3. see adjustment section on rip fence.
4. see section guard assembly.
5. Keep table top clean.
6. set hollow side facing down and feed the
work slowly.
4) Machine does not
cut accurately at 90°
or 45° position.
1. stop screws not properly adjusted.
1. see adjustment section on 90° & 45°
tilt stop.
5) height adjusting
hand wheel is hard
to turn.
1. screw thread is fouled by sawdust
1. Clean
6) blade makes poor
cuts.
1. blade is dull or dirty.

2. Replace with correct type.
3. Remount blade.
7) Motor fails to
start.
1. faulty switch.
2. field or armature burned out.
3. No power at outlet caused by a circuit
breaker open.
1. have unit checked by serviceman.
2. Replace motor if necessary.
3. install fuse or check breaker.
8) Motor develops
full speed but blade
stalls when cutting.
1. blade loose.
1. Tighten blade.
9) Motor will not
reach full speed, fails
to develop full power.
1. Low voltage.
2. Circuit overloaded.
3. Windings burned out or open.
4. Extension cord too long.
1. Request voltage check from the power
company.
2. Plug into different circuit without
appliances or motors on same line.
3. have motor replaced.
4. Reduce length of cord.
10) Motor overheats,
stalls, trips circuit
breakers or fuses.
1. Motor overloaded.
2. improper cooling due to excessive amount
of sawdust accumulating around motor.
3. Windings burned out or open.
4. fuse or circuit breakers do not have
sufficient capacity.
1. feed work slower into blade.
