Troubleshooting
This guide is meant to help resolve common issues that occur when
configuring the 871FM sensor.
Checklist
Error Cause Remedy
Status indicator does not
light up
The power supply is switched off. Check to see if there is a reason for it to be
switched off (installation or maintenance
work, and so on). Switch on the power supply
if appropriate.
Status indicator does not
light up
The 4-pin M12 plug is not connected
to the connector on the sensor
Connect the 4-pin M12 plug to the sensor and
tighten the cap nut by hand.
Status indicator does not
light up
Fault in the splitter or control
cabinet wiring.
Check the wiring carefully and repair any
wiring faults.
Status indicator does not
light up
Supply cable to the sensor is
damaged.
Replace the damaged cable.
No IO-Link connection to
the device
No power supply See error “Operating Indicator” status
indicator does not light up.
