SLIDEOUT TROUBLESHOOTING
Should the slideout mechanism fail to operate,
there are three possible points of failure: the
motor; the switch; or the 10-Amp breaker.
The motor for the slide mechanism is located
below the slide itself, and is accessed by removing
the floor of the storage compartment in the slide.
This is accomplished by removing the passenger
side of the floor first, and the metal edge trim, also
held by screws (See Picture I-P01). The two screws
for the floor are accesses through the rear storage
area and the storage access hatch under the
slideout seat inside. If the motor has failed, the
motor can be disconnected from the drive shafts
and the room manually pushed in to allow
transport to a Roadtrek dealer for repair
Some of the early units had only an arrangement
with a motor cover under the vehicle just in front
of the hitch receiver:
1. Remove the plug in the side of the cover (or
remove the cover), revealing the gear drive
manual crank bolt.
2. Using a ratchet handle and
5/8”? socket, turn
the manual crank bolt on the gear assembly
(
clockwise? ) to move the room in and
( counterclockwise? ) to move the room out. The
gear reduction will make it so this process takes
quite a while (See Picture I-P02).
3. Should the motor be seized, there are four bolts
that attach the motor/gear assembly to the drive
axle. Remove these bolts, and gently push the
slide room straight into the van until it stops. If the
room still will not move it will be necessary to find
what obstruction is keeping it from moving.
The 10-Amp automatically resetting breaker for
the slideout motor is located in the rear of the
drivers seat base and is unmarked (See Picture I-
P03).
Should the switch fail, it may be replaced with
another of similar design.
