Chapter 5: Operation
Overview
This chapter provides a brief overview of the PC Program and describes how to perform a bump test,
calibration, and alarm check. It also contains troubleshooting information and instructions for
instrument charging.
NOTE:
When the SDM-3R is connected to the PC Program, the date and time of the docking
station are automatically updated to the current date and time on the PC Program’s
screen.
GX-3R (Pro), GX-6000, EAGLE 2 and Other GX Type
Instrument Connection
There are 4 different PC Programs for different RKI products:
•
SDM-3R: for use with SDM-3R docking stations and GX-3R and GX-3R Pro instruments
•
SDM-PC2: for use with SDM-6000 docking stations and GX-6000 instruments
•
SDM-E2: for use with SDM-E2 docking stations and EAGLE 2 instruments
•
SDM-GX: for use with other GX type docking stations and GX type instruments (GX-2012,
GX-2009, and 03 Series)
Bump tests and calibrations can be performed on multiple GX-3R (Pro)s, GX-6000s, EAGLE 2s, and
other GX type instruments simultaneously. Follow all instructions in the appropriate docking station
manuals as well as the instructions in this manual.
Overview of the SDM-3R PC Controller Program
This section provides a brief overview of the program and a description of the main program window.
Instructions for using the program are given in other parts of this manual. Use this section to become
familiar with the main program window, but before attempting to use the program, make sure to
perform the program setup as described in “Setting Up Cylinders” on page 27 and “Defining PC
Program Operation” on page 30.
PC Program Functions
The PC Program has the following basic functions accessed or controlled by buttons in the main
program screen.

Gas cylinder setup accessed by the
Cylinders
control button
•
Program and system configuration accessed by the
Config
control button (this function is
password protected)
•
Data viewing accessed by the
Logs
control button
•
GX-3R (Pro) bump testing controlled by the
Bump test
control button
