When set to “Master”, the Mastermind GT will send a MIDI clock signal out of all MIDI outputs, including the USB port.
The tempo will be adjusted any time a tap tempo button is used. Tempo can also be set on a per-song or per-preset
basis. Each song and preset has a
Tempo
parameter. Setting it to a non-zero value will cause the tempo to be set to the
new BPM value when the preset or song is selected. A tempo setting of zero will leave the current tempo unchanged. If
both the current song and current preset have non-zero tempo values, the preset’s tempo will have precedence.
When set to “Slave”, the Mastermind GT will flash tempo buttons in time with the incoming MIDI clock signal. It will also
forward the MIDI clock signal to its other MIDI outputs. This allows the Mastermind GT to receive a MIDI clock signal
from a computer via USB and forward it over standard MIDI connections to your other MIDI devices.
Macros
Macros are predefined sequences of actions that you can reuse in multiple locations. Editing macros works just like
editing the actions on a button – you can add actions to send different types of MIDI messages, change presets or
button pages, etc. Macros are editing using the
Edit Macro
option in the setup menu.
To use a macro on a button, edit the button’s action list. Add a System / Macro action to the button and select the
macro you wish to run when the button turns on and when it turns off. You can use the same macro for both on and off,
or you can have different macros for on and off states.
When running a macro, the state of the button is passed to the actions in the macro. For example, let’s say you have a
macro (we’ll call if macro 1) defined as follows:
CC Toggle / Device 1, CC#80 off: 0 on:50
CC Toggle / Device 1, CC#85 off: 0 on:27
CC Toggle / Device 1, CC#90 off: 10 on:60
Next, you set up a button to call macro 1 when the button is turned on and also when the button is turned off. When
you turn the button on, it will send the on values (CC80 = 50, CC85 = 27, CC90 = 60). When you turn the button off, it
will send the off values (CC80 = 0, CC85=0, CC90=10).
You can force the macro to use one particular state or the other. To do this, edit the macro, and turn on the
Force State
parameter. Then, adjust the
Force State To
parameter to
On
or
Off
as desired. Then, the macro will always use selected
state instead of using the button’s state.
