RITE-HITE VBR-400 DOK-LOK
Owner’s Manual
INSTALLATION PROCEDURES
NOTE
If the
DOK-LOK
is mounted at the preferred height
(30"), follow these installation procedures. If the
DOK-LOK
is to be mounted lower than 30", follow the
installation instructions provided by
RITE-HITE’s
Applications Department.
Material Inspection
Open and inspect all materials. Immediately report
any damage or material shortage. Study component
assemblies and determine their proper locations.
See Figure 3.
Install Roller Track Plate
The VBR-400 DOK-LOK vehicle restraint is shipped
assembled. The track roller plate must be disassembled
from the DOK-LOK to begin the installation process.
See Figure 4 to dissassemble.
1.
Remove spring cover and all four springs.
2.
Roll the DOK-LOK carriage assembly out of the
roller track plate. Use care to make sure that the
carriage rollers remain on the carriage axles.
3.
If the DOK-LOK is to be mounted lower than 30",
see the installation instructions provided by
RITE-HITE’s Applications Department. Place
bar across bottom of Roller Track Plate and torch
off required length.
NOTE
Be careful to keep rollers on the axles.
Install roller track plate onto the dock face at specified
location by welding to an embedded steel plate or by
using the 15 concrete anchors provided. These anchors
must be used in conjunction with welding to pit steel and
a leveler frame. See Figures 5 – 7.
It is recommended that all power be disconnected, limit
switch connectors and ground wires are disconnected
from the wiring harness at the junction box. When
welding has been completed, reverse the above process.
When lifting carriage (approx. 110 lbs.) use
lifting device (ex. crane, jack). Lifting by hand
may cause back injury.
Post safety warnings and barricade work area,
at dock level and at ground level, to prevent
unauthorized use of the dock position.
Never weld on the VBR-400
DOK-LOK
vehicle
restraint after motor is wired into the control
box and the power to the box is on. Electrical
current from the welder can “feedback” through
the circuit and damage the motor and other
components.
FIGURE 5 — ANCHORING ROLLER TRACK PLATE
Whether there is a leveler or not, a 4" thick
bumper is required. DO NOT install a
DOK-LOK
vehicle restraint on docks without 4" thick
bumpers. For thicker bumpers consult factory.
