USE
USE
5.1. FUEL
5.1.1. Wood
This high performance appliance requires quality combustion. Burn only
firewood, in log form, air-dried (2 to 3 years storage in a well ventilated,
sheltered place) with 15 to 20 % humidity maximum.
- Choose hard deciduous woods if possible (birch, hornbeam, beech...),
- Avoid soft woods (lime, chestnut, willow, poplar)
- Never use coniferous woods (pine, fir,..) for permanent use, or treated
used woods (railway sleepers, joiners' cut-offs...) and domestic waste
(vegetable materials or plastics).
- Never make a blaze with armfuls of kindling, crates, small logs or vine
shoots which can cause sudden overheating.
5.2. DRAUGHT
The draught in the stove's smoke flue must never exceed 20 Pa when hot.
Consult your retailer to measure the draught when installing the stove. The
presence of a controlled mechanical ventilation may influence the draught
value or even reverse it. For this reason, the extractor must be on when
taking the measurement. If a CMV is present, an outside air intake is essential.
This must be open when using the stove.
5.3. CONTROL MECHANISM (FIG. 5.1- 5.2)
5.3.1. Command
Use the cold handle to operate the lever of the fire (fig 5.1).

5.3.2. Door handle
The door is opened/closed by turning the handle (fig. 5.2) :

when the appliance is cold
, with your bare hand.

when the appliance is ho
t
, using the cold handle or insulated gloves.
5.4. OPERATING THE FAN (ACCORDING TO MODEL)
Warm air accumulates on the ceiling by natural convection. Light the fan to
make the ambient air circulate and obtain a more homogenous air tempe-
rature throughout the home.

See the specific manual of the fan.
5.5. FIRST LIGHTING
Remove the sticky labels, any packing cardboard and ensure there is nothing
in the ashes box. Wait at least two weeks before using your fire normally.
The fire should be lit for the first time and the draught measured by a qualified
professional.
Start with a small fire then, in stages, increase the load. The progressive
rise in the temperature allows the materials to dilate slowly and stabilise.
Smoke and a smell will be given off at first, due to the presentation paint,
but this will fade in time. Proceed in this way for several days before beginning
normal use. Open the windows the first few times you make a fire.
5.6. OPERATION
5.6.1. Lighting
To bring the fire up to temperature and ensure there is enough draught, start
the fire with the door closed.
5.6.2. Nominal burning speed
Set the controls as indicated in table 5.A.
The intensity of the fire is determined by the quantity of fuel. In this confi-
guration, use only wood. Ensure that air can circulate between the logs
(there must be at least two logs in the fire).
The correct operation of the fire depends on there being a good enough
supply of fresh air.
5.7. NOMINAL LOAD
At least 2 logs (approximately 2,8 kg / hour) are necessary to reach nominal
burning speed. Place the logs in the rear of the firebox, to avoid embers
falling out of the fire.
5.8. REDUCED SPEED
Set the control lever as indicated in table 5. A.
Do not use the fire at reduced speed for a long time. This leads to the
clogging up of the chimney duct and the appliance.
5.9. IN CASE OF AN INCIDENT
In the event of an incident in the house (chimney fire, a fire starting in the
house, very high winds,…), quickly close the loading door and close all the
controls on the fire.
WARNING ! never use petrol, alcohol or heating oil...

ARNING
• If the space under the fire serves for the storage of wood, it
must never be completely obstructed: a frontal cross section
of at least 600 cm² must be kept free at all times. In all cases,
leave a space of at least 5 cm between the bottom of the
appliance and the top of the logs.
• To prevent the risk of being burnt, do not touch the appliance
and use a hand protector to operate the various controls.
• The heat radiation through the vitroceramic glass requires
that any materials that may be damaged or affected by the
heat (furniture, wallpaper, woodwork…) be moved away. A
distance of 2 m will avoid any risk.
