OPERATION—CONTINUED
Sequence of Operation—Continued
5 . On flame outage at the sensing electrode, the controller responds and begins sparking within 0 .8 seconds—a
15-second trial-for-ignition period begins to re-light the burner .
6 . If flame is re-established, normal operation resumes—sparking may continue for the full 15 seconds before stopping .
a . If the burner fail to light or if flame is not detected during the first trial-for-ignition period, the combination gas
valve is de-energized and the controller starts the 15-second inter-purge sequence before another ignition trial .
b . After 15 seconds, the controller begins two (2) more ignition trials .
c . If the burner fails to light after the third trial, the controller will de-energize the gas valve and go into lockout mode .
7 . For lockout recovery, reset the thermostat below the ambient temperature or disconnect electrical power supply
for 5 seconds .
Shutdown
To shutdown the heater:
• for one week or less:
turn OFF electrical supply to heater
• for more than one week:
turn OFF electrical supply to heater and turn OFF gas supply at gas isolation valve
MAINTENANCE
Annual Maintenance
⚠ WARNING ⚠
Always wear protective goggles when cleaning the heater.
⚠ CAUTION ⚠
Be careful not to damage gasket material between ceramic tiles. Damaging the material between
the tiles could lead to burner flashback.
Referring to
for a general arrangement of the heater’s components, clean the heater annually as follows:
1 . Disconnect all power sources related to installation .
2 . Close gas supply valve at heater .
3 . Blow off all accumulated dust and dirt from heater using air hose of 20 psi (140kPa) or less .
4 . Blow air over ceramic tile avoiding gasket material between tile .
5 . Blow air over alternately into venturi several times in succession .
