Clean Exterior Surfaces of Combustion Chamber/Heat Exchanger and Clean Fan Assembly
When the fan assembly and the exterior surfaces of the combustion chamber/heat exchanger require cleaning,
proceed as follows:
⚠ WARNING ⚠
Turn OFF electrical power before cleaning the heater.
NOTE: Cleaning ensures maximum efficiency and eliminates the possibility of the heater cycling
on the limit switch from lack of air flow.
1. Turn OFF electrical power to unit.
2. Remove discharge louvers to gain access to front of combustion chamber/heat exchanger assembly.
3. Remove fan assembly to access the rear of combustion chamber/heat exchanger assembly. To remove fan, first
disconnect wiring in fan junction box on rear of heater and disconnect flexible conduit (see
).

4. Use stiff brush and shop vacuum to clean accumulated dust and dirt from exterior surfaces of combustion chamber
/heat exchanger assembly.
5. Use brush and shop vacuum to clean fan, being careful not to bend or damage fan blades.
6. Use shop vacuum to remove accumulated dirt from fan motor.
7. Re-install discharge louvers.
8. Reconnect flexible conduit and fan wiring. Re-install fan assembly.
9. Turn ON electrical power and check operation.
Troubleshooting
This oil-fired heater has been designed and manufactured to provide trouble-free operation. However, as with any
type of mechanical equipment, it can fail. For your safety, contact a qualified service person if there is a problem,.
⚠ WARNING ⚠
Before test firing any heater, check the combustion chamber for an excessive accumulation of
unburned oil and restore to a safe condition before firing.
To diagnose malfunctions properly, the following testing equipment is required:
Electrical test meter that can measure volts, ohms, and amps
Ignition transformer tester
Combustion analyzer kit to measure oxygen, carbon dioxide, smoke, stack temperature, draft, and system efficiency
Pressure/vacuum gauge with a scale of 0–200 psig and 0–30 inches Hg
