5.3.6 Freeze the Sonar Image
Clicking the Freeze button prevents the image on the Primary
Display tab from being updated while all other sonar functions
continue. This allows prolonged viewing of a particular item.
Click the Resume button to allow updates to continue.
5.3.7 Maximize the Sonar Image
Clicking the Max button hides the lower set of tabs and
enlarges the sonar image to fit the entire SeaBat window. This
allows close inspection of data.
Click the Min button to return the image to normal size and
display the lower set of tabs.
5.3.8 Change Modes
The Mode drop-down menu allows the operator to select between the following options.
Manual:
View data being collected now.
Auto Pilot:
Disables the operator selection of
certain parameters (such as range, gain, power) and
allows the SeaBat to automatically adjust sonar
settings based on the bottom detection data. For
details, see
section 4.2.10 Edit Auto Pilot Settings
Playback:
View a previously collected data file.
Selecting Playback mode adds the Playback tab to
the lower set of tabs (see
section 5.7.8 below
5.3.9 Identify Beam Track, Depth, and Range (or Channel and Sample)
To the right of the Mode drop-down menu the beam Across Track, Depth, and Range
readings (in meters) are displayed for a particular point on the sonar wedge display.
These numbers change as the pointer passes over
the sonar image, indicating the pointer‟s current
position on the image.
Across Track:
o
Positive reading is distance from sonar head to starboard side.
o
Negative reading is distance from sonar head to port side.
Depth: Vertical distance from sonar head.
Range: Distance covered by beam to reach that point.
