Start-up
It is possible to operate the base station and the outdoor sensor with recharge-
able batteries. However, the operating time and the display contrast, are reduced
by the lower voltage (battery = 1.5 V, rechargeable battery = 1.2 V). Since re-
chargeable batteries are very sensitive to cold, the service life of the outdoor
sensor is reduced further during the winter.
Thus, we recommend to operate both, the base station and the outdoor sensor
with high-quality alkaline batteries to ensure long and reliable operation.
a) Inserting batteries into the base station
• Open the battery compartment (15) on the back of the base station.
• Insert two batteries of type AAA/Micro into the base station, paying attention to the cor-
rect polarity (observe Plus/+ and Minus/-). Close the battery compartment again.
• Once the batteries are inserted, the base station briefly shows all display segments and
some beeps are audible. If only unintelligible symbols appear on the display, press the
recessed “RESET” button (14), for example using a toothpick.
• Then, the base station starts the search for the radio signal of the outdoor sensor, and the
reception symbol (at the centre right of the display) flashes. Do not press any button and
do not move the base station.
Insert the batteries in the outdoor sensor now; see next section.
b) Inserting batteries into the outdoor sensor
• Open the battery compartment (20) on the rear of the outdoor sensor.
• Insert two batteries of type AAA/Micro into the outdoor sensor, paying attention to the
correct polarity (observe Plus/+ and Minus/-).
• Once the batteries are inserted, the outside sensor briefly shows all display segments. If
only unintelligible symbols appear on the display, press the recessed “RESET” button (22),
for example using a toothpick.
• Before you close the battery compartment, you can select the unit of temperature for the
display of the outdoor sensor by pressing the “°C/°F” button (23).
• With each transmission step of the outdoor sensor, the red LED (17) on the front side of the
outdoor sensor flashes briefly (above the LC display).
The base station should now display the outdoor temperature and air humidity.
• If the base station does not show any measurement value from the outdoor sensor even
after 3 minutes, remove the batteries from the base station and the outdoor sensor and
repeat the steps described above.
Alternatively, you can start the sensor search manually, see chapter “Manual search for
the outdoor sensor”.
c) Installation and assembly
• The outdoor sensor can be mounted on the wall through its rear opening (21) using a nail,
screw or hook. A small fold-out base (24) also allows the installation on a level surface.
The outdoor sensor is suitable for use in protected outdoor areas. It should be placed
so that it is not exposed to direct sunlight, since this can result in a false temperature
reading. Precipitation falling on the outdoor sensor will also lead to a false temperature
reading, since this cools the housing.
Therefore, we recommend you choose the installation place carefully, so the outdoor
sensor measures the correct temperature.
Never dip the outdoor sensor in or under water; this will destroy it!
• The base station can be mounted on the wall through its rear opening (12) using a nail,
screw or hook.
Using a fold-out stand (16), the base station can be placed on a flat, stable surface. Pro-
tect valuable furniture surfaces by using a suitable mat to prevent scratches.
Manual search for the outdoor sensor
• Press the “IN/OUT” button (9) briefly repeatedly until “OUT” is shown in the centre of the
display.
• Now press and hold the “IN/OUT” button (9) for about 3 seconds until a beep can be
heard. Then the display for temperature/air humidity and the reception symbol flash
(centre right of the display). The base station searches for the outdoor sensor for the next
3 minutes.
• Do not press any button during the search process.
• In case of reception problems, reduce the distance between the outdoor sensor and the
base station or select a different installation location.
Switching between temperature units °C/°F
• Briefly press the “
F
°C/°F” button (11) on the base station in order to toggle between the
units of temperature °C (degrees Celsius) and °F (degrees Fahrenheit).
• If the temperature unit in the display of the outdoor sensor needs to be switched, open
the battery compartment on the outdoor sensor. Afterwards, briefly press the “°C/°F” but-
ton (23) located there. Close the battery compartment again.
Viewing data from indoor/outdoor sensor
On the base station, you can switch between the following display indicators by pressing
the “IN/OUT” button (9):
• Indoor temperature/indoor humidity (“IN” is shown in the centre of the display)
• Outdoor temperature/outdoor humidity (“OUT” is shown in the centre of the display)
• Automatically changing display (the “
” symbol is also shown in the centre of the dis-
play)
If a value falls below the measurement range (see chapter “Technical data”), the
indicator “LL” appears instead of a measured value.
If a value exceeds the measurement range (see chapter “Technical data”), the
indicator “HH” appears instead of a measured value.
Alarm function for temperature/humidity
The base station allows sending an alarm signal when the temperature or air humidity limit
is exceeded or undershot (can be separately set for indoor temperature / indoor air humidity
and/or outdoor temperature / outdoor air humidity).
a) Switching the alarm function on/off
• First select the indoor sensor (“IN” is shown in the centre of the display) or the outdoor
sensor (“OUT” is shown) by repeatedly pressing the “IN/OUT” button (9).
The “
” for the automatic change of the display must not be shown; otherwise,
the alarm function cannot be switched on/off or adjusted.
• Press the “ALERT” button (13) briefly and repeatedly to turn the alarm for temperature
and/or air humidity on or off.
When the alarm is turned on, the “ ” symbol appears on the display area of the tempera-
ture (6) or air humidity (7), respectively.
b) Setting the limit values
The “
” for the automatic change of the display must not be shown; otherwise,
the limit values cannot be adjusted.
• Press and hold the “ALERT” button (13) for 3 seconds until you hear a beep. Then release
the button. The temperature and the “ ” symbol flashes on the display.
• Use the “
S
” (10) or “
F
°C/°F” (11) button to switch between the indoor sensor (“IN” flash-
es in the centre of the display) or the outdoor sensor (“OUT” flashes in the centre of the
display).
The subsequent settings for the limit values, then apply to the sensor selected
here (pay attention to “IN” or “OUT” on the display!).
• Briefly press the “ALERT” button (13); the
upper
limit value of the
temperature
and the
symbol “ ” flash. Adjust this value with the “
S
” (10) or “
F
°C/°F” (11) button (press and
hold longer for fast setting).
• Briefly press the “ALERT” button (13); the
lower
limit value for the
temperature
and the
symbol “ ” flash. Adjust this value with the “
S
” (10) or “
F
°C/°F” (11) button.
• Briefly press the “ALERT” button (13); the
upper
limit value for the
humidity
and the
symbol “ ” flash. Adjust this value with the “
S
” (10) or “
F
°C/°F” (11) button.
• Briefly press the “ALERT” button (13); the
lower
limit value for the
humidity
and the
symbol “ ” flash. Adjust this value with the “
S
” (10) or “
F
°C/°F” (11) button.
• Briefly press the “ALERT” button (13) to exit the setting mode.
The setting mode will end automatically if you do not press any buttons for 15 sec-
onds.
c) Stopping the alarm signal
• If the limit value is exceeded, then the base station emits an alarm signal for 2 minutes.
Moreover, the corresponding symbol ” ” or “ ” will flash on the relevant display of the
indoor temperature, outdoor temperature, indoor humidity and outdoor humidity.
• The alarm can be terminated prematurely by pressing any button.
The corresponding symbol will stop flashing only after the respective measured
value is within the set limits again.
Comfort indicator
The comfort indicator displays the condition of the indoor air at a glance. Based on the
indoor temperature and humidity present at the place where the base station is set up, the
base station calculates what the room climate is like:
Optimal
Hot
Very hot
Cold
