The strap securing operations must be carried out as follows;
o
One strap is fixed to the floor of the recovery vehicle and placed around the edge of the tyre
on a rear wheel of the vehicle being transported
o
One strap is fixed to the front towing point of the vehicle being transported and to the floor of
the recovery vehicle.

On vehicles being transported, only the following towing points recommended by the manufacturers are
authorised;
o
Towing brackets on vehicles fitted with them, provided that they are not pulled sideways.
o
The bumper counterblades or grooves on vehicles fitted with towing brackets. However, it is
forbidden to secure the straps on the bumpers.
o
The following mechanical parts must not be used as anchor points: suspension arms,
transmission shaft, anti-roll bar, spring blades, wheel hubs.
o
Detachable towing rings must be fitted in accordance with the manufacturer's guidelines
(handbook of the vehicle being transported)

On certain types of flatbed recovery vehicle, there is no option to secure using chocks, therefore the
vehicle must be secured by at least two wheels using straps with tensioners encircling the tyres (ferry-
type) and fixed to the recovery vehicle's conveyor track. This system allows the transported vehicle's
suspension to move freely.
