Branch lines between joists must be protected with a minimum 6” (150 mm) thickness of noncombus-

tible insulation (e.g., fiberglass) either within the joist bay or on top of the joists. A maximum of 3’-0” (900

mm) of an angled sprig may extend above the insulation to supply Model GP56 sprinklers.

Insulation required by Figure 25 is for fire protection purposes and not for freeze protection.

Follow installation requirements of the CPVC pipe manufacturer and listing, including verifying compatibility of any insulation or other
materials used with CPVC pipe.
