INSTRUCTIONS
Controller for supply air temperature or room
temperature control,
one three-stateoutput and
active frost protection control.
AQUA24TF/D is primarily intended for control of supply air tempera-
ture or room temperature in water heated HVAC systems. It has
one three-state output for floating control. It also has active frost
protection control and shut-down control. AQUA24TF/D is built for
DIN-rail mounting with all settings accessable on the front.
Installation
Mount the unit on a DIN-rail in a cabinet or other enclosure.
Protection class
IP20
Ambient temperature
0 - 50°C
Sensors
Main sensor
For supply air temperature control the main sensor is placed in the
incoming air duct after the heater.
For room temperature control the main sensor is placed at a
representative location in the room.
Wire the sensor according to fig.1 if the built-in setpoint is to be
used, otherwise according to fig.2 or fig.3 depending on which
external setpoint is to be used.
Limiting sensor
When running room temperature control the AQUA24TF/D may be
wired as a cascade controller with the main sensor in the room and
a limiting sensor in the incoming air duct.
Any temperature deviation in the room results in a shift in the duct
controller setpoint. The size of the shift is determined by the
cascade factor CF. The duct temperature can, when running
cascade control, be minimum limited.
Wire the limiting sensor according to fig.4.
Frost protection sensor
The frost protection sensor is placed, either as a strap-on sensor
(TG-A130), on the heater return water pipe or, as an immersion
sensor (TG-D130), in the heater or the return water pipe.
Should the temperature at the frost protection sensor fall below
10°C the frost protection controller will force the valve to open.
Should the temperature fall below 5°C the alarm relays will trip.

The frost protection alarm is reset by pushing the button ALARM
on the front.
Relay 1: 2 A, 24V AC, is for alarm indication.
Relay 2: 2 A, 230V AC is for stopping the fan.
Wire the frost protection sensor according to fig.5.
Other wiring
Supply voltage and outputs
Supply voltage: 24V AC +/-15% 50-60Hz.
Power consumption 5VA maximum
Terminal 1 = System neutral.
Terminal 2 = Phase.
Output: 24V AC, 7VA maximum
Terminal 4 =Common pole
Terminal 5 = Reduce heat
Terminal 6 = Increase heat
Proportional band = 20K
Pulse period = 4 seconds
(A small temperature offset will generate a short pulse every 4
seconds on the output that will counteract the offset. If the offset
increases the pulse will grow longer. A 20K offset will generate
a continuous output signal).
N.B.
Always connect the actuator to these three terminals only.
Terminal 4 is NOT neutral.
Shut down mode
AQUA24TF/D has an input (terminals 21-22) which is wired to a
potential-free contact in the fan motor relay. The contact should
be closed when the fan is running. When the fan is stopped the
AQUA24TF/D will switch to shut-down mode which means that
the temperature at the frost protection sensor is held at 25°C.
Set Point Control
The setpoint can be shifted -15K - +15K from the set value by
applying a 0-10V DC signal to the SPC input (terminal 13).
5V gives zero shift.
If the terminal is left open it is internally held at zero shift.
