Before first use
To make the explanation of the controls simpler and more consistent, the classic terms are used here.
These come from aviation language and are widely used.
Directions are given from the perspective of a "virtual" pilot. The two green LEDs on the body of the model
serve as direction indicators and mean "forward".
This chapter explains the basics about flight operation. For proper flight operation, please observe the
instructions in the following chapters. The control functions are explained in mode 2.
a) Hovering the quadcopter
Hovering denotes a status in which the quadcopter neither rises nor falls. This means that the lifting force is equal to
the weight.
Start the rotors by simultaneously pushing the hand-held transmitter’s left control lever (Figure 4, no. 6) down to the
left and right control lever (Figure 4, no. 13) down to the right.
Then press the "Auto start/landing" button (Figure 4, no. 11).
The quadcopter will take off and hover in front of you at an altitude of approx. one metre. Now push the left control le-
ver on the transmitter forward (Figure 4, no. 6). This increases the motor speed and causes the quadcopter to ascend.
When you pull the control lever backwards, the quadcopter descends.
If you leave the control lever in the middle position, the quadcopter will try to maintain the altitude using the built-in
sensors and GPS.
Figure 5
During a flight just above the ground and during takeoff, turbulence and air currents are created and these
can affect the quadcopter. This results in a faster response time to the control movements and a slight
forward, back or side swerve of the quadcopter. This so-called ground effect is no longer present from an
altitude of about 50 cm.
