1. When using the outrigger base at heights greater than 24 ft (7.3 m)
the system must be tied into the structure. If not using the outrigger
configuration, the system shall be tied at all times. At heights
greater than 24 ft (7.3 m), the mast assembly shall also be supported
by intermediate ties every 16 ft (4.9 m) or less.
PASSING A MIDDLE TIE
2. Though normally tied during operation,
it is acceptable to temporarily
disconnect 1 middle tie at a time to
allow you to move past and reconnect.
3. To pass a tie while elevating the
platform, approach the tie with care,
slowing the speed down on the
climbing unit. Stop when you have
a comfortable reach of the mast/tie
connection.
4. Disconnect the tie and rotate it
downward until it lies against the
structure. It may be necessary to lower
the platform slightly to allow the tie to
clear the work platform and rail
system.
