7. At the mast base, it is necessary to ensure the bottom of the mast
assembly will not rotate or slide in any direction along the base
surface. This can be accomplished by driving spikes into the ground
through the holes in the base plate.
8. Alternatively, another standoff tie can be secured to the mast just
above the base plate and fastened to the structure.
9. 6 ft (1.83 m) and 12 ft (3.66 m) masts can be joined together to reach the
maximum work height of 75 ft (22.9 m). Heights over 24 ft (7.3 m)
require mid-bracing every 16 ft (4.9 m) or less. Refer to Section 6
“Passing a Middle Tie”. Be sure to secure the standoff tie to meet the
pull-out force per (Fig. 3.7).
10. Referring to the layout plan, repeat the steps above as necessary to
properly erect each mast assembly.
