• When the FULL AUTO OFF/ON
switch is in the OFF position, AE
(automatic exposure) or the shutter
speed (S:120, S:250, S:1000,
S:2000, or S:10000) selected with
the SHUTTER button appears. No
shutter speed display appears when
the normal (1/60 second) speed is
selected. Details are on pages
38-39.
2 NO TAPE, TAPE, and TAPE END
Displays
• NO TAPE flashes in the viewfinder
when you attempt to record and
there is no cassette in the camcorder.
• TAPE flashes in the viewfinder
when you attempt to record and the
record-protect (safety) tab has been
closed.
• TAPE END flashes in the viewfinder
when there is approximately three
minutes of recording time left on the
cassette.
• TAPE END appears briefly in the
viewfinder during recording when
the end of the cassette is reached.
3 Battery Level Indicator
Press the DISPLAY button to display
the battery level indicator in the
viewfinder. This indicator will not be
recorded on the tape when it appears.

4 Status Displays
One of the following displays will
appear in the viewfinder to let you
know what the camcorder is doing.
These displays are not recorded on the
tape when they appear in the
viewfinder.
• REC appears when the camcorder is
recording.
• FASTFWD appears when the tape is
fast forwarding, and REWIND
appears when the tape is rewinding.
• PAUSE appears when you press the
thumb trigger to stop recording.
• AV DUB appears when you are
audio/video dubbing.
5 Time and Date Display
Press the DATE button repeatedly to
display the time and date (or date)
display when the camcorder is in the
record or record-pause mode (POWER
switch in CAMERA position).
• This display will be recorded on the
tape whenever it appears in the
viewfinder.
• Press the DATE button to remove
this display from the viewfinder.
