To firethefrontcoupler(ifyourenginehasone),quicklytaptheBellbuttononce
followed by four quick taps of the Horn button, allowing approximately ½ second to
lapse between each quickbuttonpress. Thesoundoftheliftbarandairlinedepletionwill
play, and the knuckle will be released.
M.T.H.engines equipped with Proto-Sound2.0havespeedcontrolcapabilitiesthat allow
the engine to maintainaconstantspeedupanddowngradesandaround curves, much like
anautomobile cruisecontrol. You canaddordropcarsontherun,andtheenginewill
maintain thespeedyou set.
While the engine is programmed to start with the speed control feature activated, you can
opt toturnitoff. This means the engine's speed will fallasitlaborsupahillandincrease
as it travels downward. It is also affected by the addition or releasing of cars while onthe
run. Because the engine will run more slowly at a given throttle voltage whenspeed
control is onthanwhenitisoff,youshouldadjustthethrottletoalowerpowerlevelfor
operation with speedcontrol offtoavoidhigh-speedderailments. When speedcontrol is
off,thevolumewilldroptoallowforbetterlowvoltageoperation.

transformer's Horn button one time then quickly taptheBellbutton twotimes,allowing
approximately ½ second to lapse between each quick button press.
Repeat the 1 horn,2bellscodetoreturnit
totheothercondition. You will want to do this during the initial neutralupon start-up if
youevercouplethisenginetoanotherenginethatisnotequippedwithspeedcontrolto
avoid damagingthemotorsineitherengine. Each time youshutdowntheengine
completely, it will automatically turn speed control on.
You can lockyourengineintoadirection(forward,neutral, or reverse) so that it will not
change directions. Todothis,puttheengineintothedirectionyouwant(orintoneutral
tolockitintoneutral),runitataveryslowcrawl(asslowlyasitwillmovewithout
halting), and quickly butfirmly tap the Hornbuttononcefollowedbythreequicktapsof
the Bell button,allowingapproximately½secondtolapsebetweeneachquickbutton
press. Twohornblastswillindicatethattheenginehasmadethechange. The engine will
not change direction (including goingintoneutral)untilyourepeatthe1horn,3bells
code to return the engine to its normal condition,eveniftheengineiskeptwithoutpower
for extendedperiods of time.
Two horn blasts will
indicate thattheenginehasmadethechange.
