Direction Lock
Proto-Cast and Proto-Dispatch:
M.T.H. engines equipped with Loco-Soundhavespeedcontrolcapabilities that allow the
engine t o maintain a constant speed u p a nddown grades and aroundcurves,muchlike an
automobilecruisecontrol. Youcanadd ordrop carsonthe run, and theengine w ill
maintainthespeedyouset.
Theengineisprogrammedto start with thespeed control featureactivated, you can opt to
turnitoff. This means theengine'sspeedwillfall asitlaborsup a hill and increase as it
travels downward. Itis alsoaffected by theadditionorreleasingofcarswhileontherun.
Because theengine will run m ore slowly at a giventhrottle v oltage when speed control i s
onthanwhenitisoff,youshouldadjust the throttletoalowerpower level foroperation
with speed controlofftoavoid high-speedderailments.
puttheengine inneutral,then quickly tap the
transformer's Hornbuttonone time then quickly taptheBellbuttontwotimes, allowing
approximately ½ second to lapse betweeneach quick button press. Repeat the 1 horn, 2
bells code toreturn itto the other condition.
Each time y ou shut down the enginecompletely, it will automatically turnspeed
control on.
You can lockyourengine into a direction(forward,neutral, orreverse)sothatit will not
change directions. Todo this, put the engine into the directionyou wantorinto neutral,
tolockitinto neutral,run it at a veryslowcrawl(asslowly asitwill move without
halting), andquickly but firmlytap the Horn buttononcefollowed by three quicktaps of
the Bellbutton,allowing approximately½second tolapse between eachquick button
press. The engine will not change direction (including going into neutral) until y ou
repeat the1horn,3bellscodetoreturntheenginetoitsnormalcondition,even ifthe
engine i s k ept withoutpower f or extendedperiods of time.

gain Proto-Cast andProto-Dispatch features
