Important: The Magnetic Wand will not start your locomotive in DCC if it is in a “Shut Down” state (mode?). To start in
DCC, you must first select the locomotive with its ID number and then use (double-press?) the F6 key. Note also that it
will take a couple of seconds after you double press the F6 key before you will hear the pump sounds start.
Note: It makes no difference whether you start your locomotive in DCC or DC. Once started, you can return to either DC
or DCC operation.
If the above methods do not start your locomotive, use the magnetic wand to reset your locomotive to factory default
values as described above.
8: Using 1.5v, 15ma. Lamps and LEDS for the Quantum Revolution-A
Options
The Quantum Revolution-A has 6 lighting outputs that can directly operate 1.5v, 15ma bulbs and LEDS without the
need for external dropping resistors.
There are 6, 180 ohm chip resistors (181) on the bd that control the outputs. See Photos Below
Since there is considerable difference in the performance between the various manufactures bulbs, the 1.5v bulbs may
not provide the proper intensity for all applications.
Also, if you need to have two 1.5v, 15 ma bulbs illuminated from a single output like for loco’s that have 2 lamp
headlights, you would have to change the resistors to 130 ohms and wire the bulbs in series.
We have these in stock if you need them, just call and we will send at no charge.
Tools and Procedures
Your normal soldering tools can be used to remove and install the chip resistors.
1) Flux the chip resistor you are going to remove.
2) Apply the tip of your soldering iron directly to the chip to heat up.
3) The solder will start to re-flow and you can remove the chip with a forceps.
4) Reflux the chip pads and the chip and add a little solder to the chip pads.
5) Then place the chip on the pads and add heat to re-flow the solder.
Since these are chip resistors polarity in not an issue.
