5.3. USING THE DEEP FRYER
1. Place the deep fryer on a flat, stable and heat-resistant surface.
2. Ensure the deep fryer is unplugged.
3. Fill the frying basket (9) with prepared food and set aside.
4. Fill the oil tank (7) with fresh cooking oil up to the “MAX” level mark. Do not fill below the “MIN”
or above the “MAX” level marked inside the oil tank.
NOTE:
■
Only fill the oil tank with cooking oil. Do not fill with any other liquids, such as water,
milk or coffee.
■
Do not fill solid fats in the oil tank to avoid fire or overheating the appliance. Solid fats
must be completely melted before adding into the oil tank.
■
Always use oil that can withstand high temperature.
■
Do not mix different types of oil. Never add fresh oil to used oil.
5. Close the lid (10).
6. Ensure the Thermostat knob (1c) is turned anti-clockwise to “OFF”, then plug the power cord
into the wall socket. The red POWER indicator light (1a) will illuminate to indicate that the
appliance is on.
7. Turn the Thermostat knob (1c) to the desired temperature
(OFF-130-150-170-190 °C)
,
according to the type of food being fried. The green HEATING indicator light (1b) will illuminate
when the appliance is heating up the oil to the set temperature, and will go off when the set
temperature is reached.
8. When the green HEATING indicator light (1b) goes off, open the lid (10) and place the frying
basket (9) slowly into the oil tank to avoid splashes or overflowing.
9. Close the lid (10).
NOTE:
■
During frying, the green HEATING indicator light will cycle on and off. This is normal and
indicates that the appliance is automatically maintaining the set temperature.
■
The appliance may emit a large amount of steam at the beginning of the cooking process.
This is due to the water content of the food and moisture on the surface of the food. The
steam may escape from the gap between the lid and the oil tank. As the food cooks, the
surface dehydrates rapidly to leave a crispy skin.
10. When the food is cooked, turn the Thermostat knob (1c) to “OFF”.
11. Open the lid slowly. Beware of hot steam or oil splattering.
12. Lift the frying basket and hook it on the rim of the oil tank with the drain hook under the handle
to drain excess oil, and transfer the food to a plate lined with kitchen paper.
13. Once finished using the appliance, turn the Thermostat knob (1c) to “OFF” and unplug the
power cord from the wall socket. The red POWER indicator (1a) will go off.
14. Allow the deep fryer and oil to cool down completely before emptying and cleaning (→ “6.
CLEANING AND CARE”).
WARNING:
Never leave the appliance unattended while it is plugged or cooling down.
Serious hot oil burns may result from a deep fryer being accidentally pulled off a
countertop. Keep children and pets away at all times. Do not allow the cord to hang over
the edge of the counter where it may be grabbed by children or accidentally tripped by
anyone.
RISK OF FIRE:
Overheated oil or fat can ignite very quickly. Never leave heating oil or fat
unsupervised. Should the oil ignite, do not try to put it out by pouring water on it. Cover
