ProMinent recommends integrating the metering pump with hygienic pump
head into your CIP (Cleaning in Place) or SIP (Sterilisation in Place)
process.
Use a flushing assembly to flush the liquid end.
Problems may arise if the metering pump is not working during flushing.
Prominent recommends flushing the pump regularly with a suitable
flushing medium, e.g. during breaks in production, downtimes and product
changes.
Fundamental prerequisite for a successful CIP (cleaning in place) is a tur‐
bulent flow at a minimum flow velocity of 1.5 m/s based on the “pipe diam‐
eter of the pump feed”.
However, never exceed the maximum permitted priming pressure on the
suction side - refer to the “Technical data” chapter of the “Operating
instructions for diaphragm motor driven dosing pump Sigma”.

Values
Flushing medium
+140 °C
Flushing medium in atmospheres
at risk from explosion
+115 °C
The dosing head assumes the temperature of the liquid medium after a
short time. Consider putting in place appropriate protective measures!
ProMinent metering pumps with hygiene pump head are fitted with tightly
closing ball check valves, which is why flushing liquid collects above the
valves after the CIP (cleaning in place) stage. It may be necessary to
implement appropriate processes to remove this flushing liquid.
The pump needs to be stopped if you wish to fully purge the residual
liquid.
1.
Pre-flushing:
Remove coarse dirt.
2.
Leaching / lye circulation:
Clean with an alkaline cleaning agent.
3.
Intermediate flushing:
Flush out the cleaning agent with water.
If only leaching is to be performed: continue with step 6.
4.
Acidification / acid circulation:
Acid-wash with an acidic cleaning agent to remove lime deposits
and caustic soda.
5.
Acid-washing:
Acid-washing can be combined with disinfection if need be (pay
attention to the information on the cleaning agent!)
If only acid-washing is to be performed: continue with step 7.
6.
Disinfection:
Killing of vegetative micro-organisms.
