CUTTING THE WORKPIECE
WARNING! Keep hands away from the saw blade to avoid a
serious injury or amputation.
WARNING! Do not cut round stock on this machine without using
a device to support the stock.
Four different cuts can be made with the scroll saw: straight, cross,
bevel and ripping.
1. Mark the desired cut-line on the workpiece.
2. Insert the key into the ON/OFF Switch (H) and flick the switch up.
The power light indicator below the switch will glow.
3. Position the workpiece for a cut. Do not allow the workpiece to
touch the saw blade.
4. Check and adjust if necessary the height of the hold-down shoe.
5. Press the foot pedal switch (J) to supply power to the foot pedal (K).
6. Step on the pedal to start the saw blade.
7. Adjust the saw blade speed by turning the speed control knob (I)
clockwise to increase speed or counterclockwise to decrease speed.
8. Position your hands on the workpiece to avoid the saw blade
throughout the cut. Your hands should be in a comfortable position
to avoid awkward cuts that can cause an injury.
8.1 A workpiece may be too small to safely cut. Clamp the
workpiece to a large workpiece to allow safe control.
9. Guide the workpiece against the blade. Do not force the material
against the blade as this can cause it to snap.
9.1 Reduce the speed that you guide a thicker material through
the saw blade to avoid damaging the blade.
9.2 Reduce your speed when making a curved cut to allow the
saw blade to cut the material.
10. Continue the cut in one smooth motion, if possible, until complete.
10.1 The blade may catch in the kerf. Release the foot pedal and
wait for the blade to stop. Flip the power and foot pedal
switches to the OFF position. Wedge the kerf open and the
workpiece.
