8.4.4.1

Removing the PCI slot cover from the removal tool

Free hot-plug PCI slots are provided with a slot cover that is mounted on the 
removal tool, and these must be removed before the next hot-pluggable PCI 
board is installed.

Lift the movable green engaging hooks no more than about 1 mm (1), until 
the PCI board is completely released.

Remove the slot cover (2).

CAUTION!

Keep the slot cover in a safe place. If the hot-pluggable PCI board is 
removed again and not replaced with a new one, the slot cover must 
be reinstalled in the removal tool due to cooling, to comply with appli-
cable EMC regulations (regulations on electromagnetic compatibility) 
and to protect against fire.

Push the engaging hooks down until they disengage from the removal tool 
(see 

figure 35 on page 102

), and keep them in a safe place.

To mount the slot cover in the removal tool, proceed as for installing a hot-
pluggable PCI board (see 

section “Place the hot-pluggable PCI board in the 

removal tool” on page 103

).
