DIRECTOR USER MANUAL
31
Guidelines:
+
If the first channel is set to any value greater than 0, and a scene with a name that starts with the trigger number
exists in the Scene List, then the scene will be recalled and the trigger number will be highlighted.
+
Once a scene is triggered, it will not re-trigger unless the incoming data changes, either by changing the enable
channel to a different non-zero value, or by changing the scene number channels to different values and then
returning them to the values to trigger the original scene.
+
Director can handle rapid triggering of multiple scenes if you want to trigger scene chases from the console,
however, you should avoid applying timing to these channels on the console.
+
If errors are encountered, they will be displayed as warnings. Refer to
Cue # Fraction Digits
The Cue # Fraction Digits is a required setting which is used to control how Director converts the incoming data value
from the second 16-bit channel into the scene number’s fractional value. The Cue # Fraction Digits setting is selected
using the pop-up menu.
There are four possible selections on the Cue # Fraction Digits pop-up: free form, 2 digits, 3 digits, and 4 digits. The 2,
3, and 4 digit options can be used to make exact numerical matches to cue numbering sequences on lighting
consoles. Console cue sequences use a system based on how computers count (e.g. 1.0, 1.01, 1.02... ...1.09, 1.1 and
so on) without trailing zeros. When using one of these modes, the incoming Art-Net values will be interpreted
differently based on the mode selected (see the examples below for details).
If you would like to use scene triggers where the number after the decimal point follows a natural counting order (e.g.
1.8, 1.9, 1.10, 1.11 and so on), you can use the "free form" option. The following guidelines apply to the free form
option:
+
Free form simply compares incoming numerical values to those used in the scene names.
+
Free form does not allow you to use fractions with leading zeros such as ".01" or "".001".
+
Fractions in the scene number must have trailing zeroes to be triggered by incoming fractional values with trailing
zeroes.
How numerical values after the decimal point are interpreted:
+
free form: value of "1" represents ".1", value of "10" represents ".10"
+
2 digits: value of "1" represents ".01", value of “10” represents ".1"
+
3 digits: value of "1" represents ".001", value of “100” represents ".1"
+
4 digits: DMX value of "1" represents ".0001", DMX value of "1000" represents ".1"
