WATER SEAL MAINTENANCE
1. Check that the water seal kit has all the components before disassembling
the pump.
2. Hold the pump firmly. Use an Allen wrench to loosen the four bolts (#55).
Remove water inlet body (#42) and set aside. Remove the manifold and lay the
head assembly on a flat surface (Fig. 1).
3. Remove the seal compression ring by hand (Fig. 2).
4. Remove the water seal with a non-metallic pry bar to avoid damaging the
cylinder wall. Discard seal. (Fig. 3).
5. The water seal installation tool has a plug (Fig. 4-1) and a guide tube (Fig. 4-2).
6. Remove the three small plugs in the manifold and set aside (Fig. 6-1).
7. Position the guide tube over the manifold cylinder (Fig. 6-2). Align the
guide tube’s pegs with two indents (Fig. 6-1) and push the guide into
them. Each cylinder will use two of the three indents for proper alignment.
8. Insert the new water seal into the guide tube (Fig. 5).
9. Push the plug into the guide tube until completely seated. Remove the
guide tube to check that the water seal is in place.
10. Reattach the head assembly to the pump.
