12.4.3

Starting up the vehicle after a temporary lay-up or after lay-
up over winter 

Go through the following checklist before start-up:

Activities

done

Base vehicle

Check the tyre pressure on all tyres

Check the tyre pressure of the spare wheel

Body

Clean dust and dirt from the entrance step

Check that the doors, windows and skylights are working properly 

Check the function of all external locks 

Remove the cover from the waste gas vent of the heater (if there is 
one)

Remove the winter cover from the refrigerator grills (if there is one)

Gas system

Put the gas bottles in the gas bottle compartment, tie down and con-
nect to the gas pressure regulator 

Electrical system

Connect to 230 V external power supply

Fully charge living area and starter battery

 

Charge at least for 20 hours after laying up.

Connect the living area battery with the 12 V power supply (see 
Chapter 9)

Check that the electrical system are working, e.g. interior light, so-
cket and all installed electrical appliances

Water system

Use several litres of fresh water to rinse out water pipes and water 
tank. To this end, open all water taps 

Check the functionality of the operating lever for the waste water 
tank

Close safety/drainage valve, drain cocks and water taps 

Check all the water tapping points as well as kitchen, bath, shower, 
and toilet for leakage.

Appliances

Check the function of the refrigerator

Check the function of the heater/boiler 

Check the function of the gas cooker
