NOTE: If Enable Digital Audio is grayed out, then Audio FS is not properly loaded or
your USB speakers are not properly configured. See the instructions below.
3. Also in the Properties dialog box, specify the drive letter of your Plextor drive to
be the default for music playback.
4. Click OK to exit the Multimedia Properties screen and enable USB digital audio.
For Windows 2000 users:
1. Right-mouse click on the My Computer icon and select Properties.
2. In the Properties dialog box, click on the Hardware tab.
3. Click on the Device Manager button.
4. Expand the line title DVD/CD-ROM Drives by clicking on the + sign.
5. Find your Plextor drive from the list of devices and double-click on it.
6. Click on the Properties tab.
7. On the lower portion of the Drive Properties, enable support for Digital Audio by
clicking on the check box.
8. Click on the OK button.
9. If a dialog box comes up with a warning sign that a drive may not be on the list
of supported devices and that digital audio playback may have poor quality,
select Yes to accept it anyway and to proceed.
To ensure that AudioFS is properly loaded on your system:
1. Make sure that latest version of Plextor Manager 2000 is installed on your
system. (Click the Plextor Manager icon in the taskbar, then choose About to see
the version.)
2. If you have Windows 98, make sure the file AUDIOFS.VXD exists on your
system. (Look in c:\windows\system\iosubsys.)

If you have Windows 2000, make sure the file AFS2K.SYS exists on your
system. (Look in c:\winnt\system32\drivers.)
-or-
If you have Windows NT 4.0, make sure the file AFS.SYS exists on your system.
(Look in c:\winnt\system32\drivers.)
3. Make sure you are using a Plextor drive as a source drive.
4. Make sure that AudioFS is enabled for this drive in Drive Properties | Settings.
5. Insert an audio CD into your Plextor drive. All the tracks on this disc should
appear as WAV files, and not as CDA tracks.
To ensure that your USB speakers are properly installed:
•
Make sure the there are no resource conflicts for this device in System
Properties/Device Manager, and that the device is properly recognized.
•
Make sure that all connections are properly made between your USB speakers
and the motherboard USB port.
•
Make sure this USB port is enabled on your motherboard.
•
Refer to documentation from Microsoft, the motherboard manufacturer, and the
USB speaker manufacturer for more help.
