WARNING

If engine failure is accompanied by fuel fumes in the cockpit

or internal engine damage is suspected, set fuel selector to OFF, fuel pumps

OFF and do not attempt a restart.

Lane failure/fault indication modes

NOTE

please refer to Rotax 912 iS series Operators Manual for additional

and detailed information.

The Rotax 912 iS Series uses a dual redundant system of fuel pumps, fuel

injector, ignition system, ECUs and generators. The control and ingnition

system is divided in two independent and complementary systems named

LANE A and LANE B. Normal operation is with both lanes ON (Auto mode).

Engine can operate also with a lane malfunction.

Failure modes of LANEs are indicated with 2 (two)

LANE warning lights

the main electrical panel. The lights indicate three modes:

LED OFF

Proper healthy operation, no malfunction.

LED intermittent

(blinking)

Abnormal operation, LANE fault. Pilot is advised to

manually switch to the remaining healthy LANE. It

is recommended to land soon and inspect engine

systems to discover fault.

LED ON (permanent)

LANE failure, pilot MUST manually switch over to

healthy LANE and land as soon as practical.

Fuel Pumps

The system uses two redundant high pressure fuel pumps. Should a pump

fail, the other pump can replace its role. Only one functional pump is re-

quired for the engine to function nominally. In case of a pump failure, switch

over to the remaining healthy pump. Should the engine quite before the

pump is activated, restart engine normally. Should both fuel pumps fail, the

engine cannot be restarted as not enough fuel pressure is produced.
