When the separately sold display is connected to this
unit, the listed information will appear on it.
Information display
These are the basic steps necessary to play a
Video CD with your DVD player. More ad-
vanced Video CD operation is explained start-
ing on page 30.

VCD indicator
Shows when a Video CD is playing.

Play time indicator
Shows the elapsed playing time of the cur-
rent track.

Track number indicator
Shows the track currently playing.
Basic operation of Video CD
1 Press NUMBER to select the desired
menu option.
When a Video CD featuring the PBC (playback
control) function starts playing, a menu is dis-
played.

Playback starts from the selected menu
item.

When the menu is two or more pages long,
press
o
or
p
to switch between dis-
plays.

You can display the menu by pressing
RETURN
during PBC playback. For details, refer
to the instructions provided with the disc.

Operation with the joystick is not possible.

If the remote control is set to
DVH
mode,

and
p
are assigned to other functions. Use

instead for the
DVD
mode functions
controlled by

and
p
.
2 To perform fast forward or reverse,
press and hold

.

If you continue pressing

n
for five
seconds, the color of the icon

changes
from white to blue. When this happens, fast re-
verse/fast forward continues even if you release
m

n
. To resume playback at a desired
point, press
f
.

Fast forward/fast reverse may not be possible
at certain locations on some discs. If this hap-
pens, normal playback automatically resumes.
3 To skip back or forward to another
track, press
o
or
p
.
Pressing
p
skips to the start of the next
track. Pressing
o
once skips to the start of
the current track. Pressing again will skip to
the previous track.
Track numbers are displayed for eight sec-
onds.
