Playback from Home Media Gallery
About Home Media
Gallery
This p laye r ’s Home Media Galle r y function allows you to
dis p lay a list of in p ut sou r ces and sta r t p layback. This
cha p te r desc r ibes setu p and p layback pr ocedu r es
r equi r ed to enjoy these featu r es. When you p lay the files
sto r ed on you r com p ute r o r the com p onents on the
netwo r k, it is adviso r y that you also r efe r to the o p e r ation
manual su pp lied with you r netwo r k com p onent.
The in p ut sou r ces that can be p layed f r om Home Media
Galle r y a r e as shown below.
• BD-R/RE (BDAV fo r mat) discs
• DVD-R/RW (VR fo r mat) discs
• Audio CDs (CD-DA, SACD and DTS CDs)
• DVD/CDs on which only data files of video, image o r
audio files, etc. a r e r eco r ded.
• USB memo r y device
• Files on the netwo r k se r ve r s (on the PCs o r
com p onents connected to the p laye r via LAN
inte r face.)
Note
• The Home Media Galle r y allows you to p lay files on
media se r ve r s connected on an identical Local A r ea
Netwo r k (LAN) as the r eceive r .
• The following files a r e allowed to be p layed f r om
Home Media Galle r y:
– PCs r unning Mic r osoft Windows Vista o r XP with
Windows Media Playe r 11 installed
– PCs r unning Mic r osoft Windows 7 with Windows
Media Playe r 12 installed
– DLNA-com p atible digital media se r ve r s (on PCs o r
othe r com p onents)
– Files sto r ed in a PC o r DMS (Digital Media Se r ve r )
as desc r ibed above can be p layed by Digital Media
Playe r (DMP).
The p laye r su pp o r ts the use of such DMP.
• To p lay back audio files sto r ed on com p onents on the
netwo r k, you must tu r n on the DHCP se r ve r function
of you r r oute r . In case you r r oute r does not have the
built-in DHCP se r ve r function, it is necessa r y to set u p
the netwo r k manually. Othe r wise, you cannot p lay
back files sto r ed on com p onents on the netwo r k. See
p age 44.
About network playback
The netwo r k p layback function of this unit uses the
following technologies:


 Windows Media DRM
Mic r osoft Windows Media Digital Rights Management
(WMDRM) is a p latfo r m to pr otect and secu r ely delive r
content fo r p layback on com p ute r s, p o r table devices and
netwo r k devices. Home Media Galle r y functions as a
WMDRM 10 fo r netwo r ked devices. WMDRM pr otected
content can only be p layed on media se r ve r s su pp o r ting
WMDRM.
Content owne r s use WMDRM technology to pr otect thei r
intellectual pr o p e r ty, including co p y r ights. This device
uses WMDRM softwa r e to access WMDRM pr otected
content. If the WMDRM softwa r e fails to pr otect the
content, content owne r s may ask Mic r osoft to r evoke the
softwa r e’s ability to use WMDRM to p lay o r co p y
pr otected content. Revocation does not affect
un pr otected content. When you download licenses fo r
pr otected content, you ag r ee that Mic r osoft may include
a r evocation list with the licenses. Content owne r s may
r equi r e you to u p g r ade WMDRM to access thei r content.
If you decline an u p g r ade, you will not be able to access
content that r equi r es the u p g r ade. This pr oduct is
pr otected by ce r tain intellectual pr o p e r ty r ights of
Mic r osoft. Use o r dist r ibution of such technology outside
of this pr oduct is pr ohibited without a license f r om
Mic r osoft.
