Playback
Playing discs or files
This section desc r ibes the p laye r ’s main o p e r ations.
Fo r the ty p es of discs and files that can be p layed, see
p age 8. Video, image and audio files r eco r ded on discs
a r e p layed with the Home Media Galle r y ( p age 35).
1 Press

STANDBY/ON to turn on the power.
Tu r n the TV’s p owe r on and switch its in p ut befo r ehand.
2 Press  OPEN/CLOSE to open the disc tray and
load the disc.
Note
• Load the disc with the pr inted side facing
u p .
• Seve r al dozen seconds a r e r equi r ed to r ead
the disc. Once r eading is com p leted, the
ty p e of disc is dis p layed on the p laye r ’s f r ont
p anel dis p lay.
• When a BD with usage r est r ictions set by a BD
r eco r de r is loaded, the PIN code in p ut sc r een
a pp ea r s. In this case, in p ut you r PIN code.
3 Press

PLAY to play the disc.
• To p ause, pr ess

PAUSE du r ing p layback.
• To sto p , pr ess

STOP du r ing p layback.
Note
• Some discs sta r t p laying automatically when the disc
t r ay is closed.
• DVD-Video discs have p a r ental lock featu r es. In p ut
the p asswo r d r egiste r ed in the p laye r ’s settings to
unlock the p a r ental lock. Fo r details, see p age 45.

If the disc menu is displayed
Fo r some discs, the disc menu is dis p layed automatically
when p layback sta r ts. The contents of the disc menu and
the way to o p e r ate de p end on the disc.

Resuming playback from where it
was stopped (resume playback
function)
• When
 STOP
is pr essed du r ing p layback, the p oint
at which the disc sto pp ed is sto r ed in the memo r y.
When

PLAY is pr essed afte r that, p layback
r esumes f r om that p oint.
• Fo r audio CDs and audio files, p layback sta r ts f r om
the beginning of the t r ack/file that was p laying.
• If the sto p mode was set while p laying a slideshow of
image files, p layback sta r ts f r om the image file last
dis p layed.
• To cancel the r esume p layback function, pr ess

STOP while p layback is sto pp ed.
Note
• The r esume p layback function is canceled
automatically in the following cases:
– When the disc t r ay is o p ened.
– When the file list window is switched.
– When the p owe r is tu r ned off. (Fo r BDs and DVDs
this does not cancel the r esume p layback
function.)
• When you want to continue p layback f r om a p osition
you s p ecify to be p layed next time, see Continuing
playback from a specified position (Continued Viewing
Playback)
on p age 34.
• The r esume p layback function cannot be used fo r
some discs.
