Visual Inspection
A visual inspection is to form part of the
reader’s maintenance strategy, as per Table 3.
There are 2 main types of visual inspection:
Stage 1. Ex
ternal inspection of Reader whilst powered “ON”
Stage 2. Detailed internal inspection of Reader whilst powered “OFF”
A component and module layout diagram are located on the inside of the enclosure
access door. For your reference, please use Figure 12 to locate any of the
components/modules as listed in the visual inspection tables.
The visual inspection should be carried out in two stages.
The first stage is a visual and auditory inspection which requires the DPM Reader
to be switched “ON” to SCL Level 1A. All hazard precautions will apply.
The second stage is an internal visual inspection when the DPM Reader is
switched to Safety Control Level 4 resulting the unit being turned completely OFF
and unplugged from the mains supply.
This will allow closer physical inspection without the risk of possible shock or injury.
