Enable
- Enable/disable the WLAN interface.
Operating Mode
- Choose if the device should operate as a WLAN client or access point.
Depending on the selection, additional parameters are visible.
Channel Bands
- “Client” mode only - Choose to scan for networks on either the 2.4 GHz
or 5 GHz channel band, or on both (default).
Scan for Networks
- Scans the selected frequency band for WLAN networks.
To connect to a network, select it from the drop-down menu after the scan has been
completed.
After pressing the button, all visible networks are shown in the “Select a network” drop-down
menu, including the SSID, channel, and received signal strength (RSSI).
Connect to SSID
- To manually connect to a network, enter its SSID (network name) here.
This can also be used if the network does not broadcast its SSID.
Authentication Mode
- Select the authentication/encryption mode required by the
network.
Open = No encryption (not recommended)
WPA2 = WPA2 PSK authentication with AES/CCMP encryption
Other authentication and encryption modes can be selected using AT commands.
WPA2 Passkey
- Enter the WPA2 passkey for the network.
Channel
- Select a specific channel to use when scanning for networks. The “Channel
Bands” settings determine which channels are available.
Auto = All channels are scanned (default).
WLAN channels and WORLD mode (client mode only)
The “Regulatory Domain” (i.e., locally applicable legal directives) specifies the function
channels that can be used for WLAN communication.
The EPA 2 supports the identification of the regulatory domain in accordance with the
IEEE 802.11d specification. Initially, the device is set to WORLD mode, which only activates
the universally permissible channels in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz band (see Table
WORLD mode can be deactivated using the AT*WWM=0 command. In this way, additional
channels can be added. During the scan, the device then searches for country information
in the beacons of the visible access points. The additional channels are activated if the scan
shows that the device works either within the European (ETSI) or the North American (FCC)
regulatory domain. A new scan is performed once per hour to update the regulatory domain.
The device permanently remains in WORLD mode, if no or contradictory information is
identified. In this case, the regulatory domain is checked again only after a restart.
Additional information about the use of AT commands can be found on the “Help” page of
the web interface.
The WPA2 passkey must consist of 8 ... 63 characters from the following character set:
1234567890
abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzäöüß
ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZÄÖÜ
!§$%&/()=?{[]}+*#'-_.:;@€<>|
μ
The characters " (ASCII 34) and , (ASCII 44) as well as \ (ASCII 92) may not be used.
