Separating FHR Traces
To help you to interpret traces with similar baselines, you can separate the baselines by an offset of
20 bpm by switching trace separation on. For details of the offset, see “Determining the Separation
Order” on page 116.
Switching Trace Separation On and Off
♦ Connect transducers to the monitor to measure FHR. Depending on the measurement method,
you need
either two ultrasound transducers or
FM30/50 One ultrasound and one Toco
+
transducer (to monitor DECG)
♦ Enter the Main Setup menu by pressing the Main Setup .
♦ Select Fetal Recorder .
♦
Select
Trace Separation
to toggle between
On
and
Off
.
♦
Exit the
Main Setup
menu.
Determining the Separation Order
In Configuration Mode, you can choose between two different ways for dealing with the trace offsets
on the recording (the order in which they are separated) when
Trace Separation is On .
1 Enter the
Main Setup
menu by pressing the
Main Setup
SmartKey.

Fetal Recorder

Select Separation Order to toggle between Standard and Classic .
–
Standard
: the FHR2 trace is shifted up by 20 bpm (it is recorded 20 bpm higher than it really
is). No offset is ever applied to the FHR1 trace - it stays where it is. (In case of a third FHR,
this is shifted down by 20 bpm.)
– Classic : the FHR1 trace is shifted up by 20 bpm when there is more than one FHR
measurement. No offset is ever applied to the FHR2 trace - it stays where it is. (In case of a
third FHR, this is shifted down by 20 bpm.)
