2.2.4. "Controlled flash" mode
Dimmer value 192..255.
In this mode the flash is triggered explicitly by the dimmer value.
For this the dimmer value in successive values must exceed a trigger threshold.
The lower threshold is at 192..223. The upper threshold is at 224..255.
In order to unleash a new triggering, the dimmer value must again be below the trigger threshold, and then
exceed the trigger threshold again.
2.3. Monitoring and faults
2.3.1. Optical flash monitoring
The flashing light is equipped with optical flash monitoring. It can therefore be determined whether a flash
was actually produced. Influence of permanent ambient light is almost completely excluded by having a short
measurement window, right after the flash.
If no flash is detected three times in succession, the flash failure error (parameter 39.7) is displayed.
2.3.2. Flash counter
A fail-safe flash counter is provided in the flash light. After each flash the current flash count (Parameter
05..07) is available. After the first start (apply voltage) and before the first flash, the flash count is 0.
If the flash counter reading (Parameter 05..07) reaches or exceeds the flash counter max. alarm (Parameter
08..10), the flash counter max. alarm error (Parameter 39.5) is displayed.
7.2.1. Flash frequency monitoring
The flash light is designed for 1Hz (or less) flash frequency for continuous operation.
A maximum flash rate of about 2 Hz is possible for short periods. The operation with a flash frequency> =
1Hz is monitored. If the flash rate is too high for a certain period of time, the flash mode is terminated and the
flash light goes into safety mode. In the safety mode, the flash mode is adjusted.
The safety mode lasts 240sec, then the flash light will automatically reset to the previous mode.
If the safety mode is active, the error "Flash is in safety mode" is displayed (parameter 39.6). The "safety"
timer (parameters 45 and 46) indicates the remaining time of the safety mode in seconds.
The following table shows how long continuous operation is possible at >1Hz until the safety mode is
activated.

Note:
The reading of the parameters is only possible in RDM capable DMX systems, or with the Pfannenberg
protocol.
The flash counter, the "secure" timer and the error bits flash failure (parameter 39.7) as well as "Flash is in
safety mode" (parameter 39.6), are reset after every flash request. It is not necessary that a flash is actually
triggered.
