(EN) ENGLISH

Field of application

- Helmet for climbing, mountaineering and other vertical sports.

- Helmet for cycling, roller skating and skateboarding. CE certification only.

- Helmet for canoeing, kayaking and whitewater sports. CE certification only.

This helmet is not designed for use in class 5 or 6 whitewater, as defined by the

International Canoe-Kayak Federation.

In whitewater, this helmet is designed to help protect against bumps, scrapes and

bruises.

Do not use this helmet in activities for which it is not designed.

Wearing a helmet can significantly reduce the risks associated with these activities,

but cannot entirely eliminate them. In a major impact, the helmet deforms to

absorb the maximum amount of energy possible, sometimes to the point of

destroying the helmet.

WARNING

Activities involving the use of this equipment are inherently dangerous.

You are responsible for your own actions and decisions.

Before using this equipment, you must:

- Read and understand all instructions for use.

- Get specific training in its proper use.

- Become acquainted with its capabilities and limitations.

- Understand and accept the risks involved.

Failure to heed any of these warnings may result in severe injury or death.

Responsibility

WARNING, specific training in the activities defined in the field of application is

essential before use.

This product must only be used by competent and responsible persons, or those

placed under the direct and visual control of a competent and responsible person.

Gaining an adequate apprenticeship in appropriate techniques and methods of

protection is your own responsibility.

You personally assume all risks and responsibilities for all damage, injury or death

which may occur during or following incorrect use of our products in any manner

whatsoever. If you are not able, or not in a position to assume this responsibility or

to take this risk, do not use this equipment.

Nomenclature of parts

(1) Shell, (2) Headband, (3) Headband adjustment clips, (4) Chin strap adjustment

(front-back), (5) Chin strap buckle and adjuster, (6) Inserts for face shield

mounting, (7) Headlamp clips, (8) I.D. zone, (9) Headband attachment inserts.

Principal materials

: shell made of expanded polystyrene and polycarbonate, straps

made of polyester.

Inspection, points to verify

Before each use, verify that there are no cracks or deformities on the inside or

outside of the shell and the internal liner, check that the straps, stitching, and the

headband attachment system are undamaged, and that the headband adjustment

system and chinstrap buckle are working properly.

WARNING, a major impact to the helmet can significantly reduce its protective

properties without leaving visible signs of damage. Retire your helmet after a major

impact.

Consult the details of the inspection procedure to be carried out for each item of

PPE on the Web at www.petzl.com/ppe

Contact PETZL if there is any doubt about the condition of this product.

How to put on and adjust the helmet

Diagram 1. Headband

- Put the helmet on your head, pinch the two headband adjustment clips (3) and

adjust the headband for a comfortable fit.

You can adjust the positioning of the headband on the nape of the neck by sliding it

up or down on the webbing.

The helmet should fit snugly and not move about on the head. A poorly-adjusted

helmet will not provide effective protection.

Diagram 2. Chinstrap

- Position the adjusters (5) under the ears. To adjust the chinstrap backwards or

forwards, slide the webbing through the adjusters.

- Fasten the chinstrap using the buckle (5). Tighten the chinstrap to fit comfortably.

A correctly adjusted chinstrap reduces the risk of the helmet coming off

accidentally.

Functionality test

Your helmet must be correctly fastened and centered on the head. A well-adjusted

helmet (minimal movement front to back or side to side), provides better

protection. Make sure that it is correctly adjusted, that the webbing straps, the chin

strap and head band are properly tightened.

DO NOT USE THIS HELMET if you are unable to adjust it to fit properly. Replace it

with a helmet of a different size or model.

Precautions for use

- Warning, because of its design, this helmet is vulnerable to damage from

improper care. Do not sit on it, pack it too tightly, drop it, allow it to contact sharp

or pointed objects, etc.

Do not expose your helmet to high temperatures, for example by leaving it inside a

vehicle in direct sunlight.

- Paint and stickers may contain materials that, with time, can alter the physical

properties of the helmet. Before applying any of these products to the helmet,

verify their compatibility with polystyrene and polycarbonate.

- Certain chemical products, especially solvents, can damage your helmet. Protect

your helmet.

Product inspection

In addition to the inspection before each use, an in-depth inspection must be

carried out by a competent inspector. The frequency of the in-depth inspection

must be governed by applicable legislation, and the type and the intensity of use.
