Engine overheating
In case the engine overheats, the engine
emits pinging noises and engine perform­
ance drops noticeably as well as the water
temperature gauge indicates overheating;
Observe the following WARNINGS and take
the procedure described below.
WARNING
To help reduce the risk of burn or' seri­
ous bodily injury;
• Allow the engine to cool before
checking any component in the en­
gine compartment.
• Do not attempt to remove the radia­
tor cap when the engine and radia­
tor are still hot.
As the radiator cap is of the pres­
surized type, hot coolant will splash
out.
• Do not open the hood if steam is
coming out.
• Never touch or come close to the
radiator fan blades when the engine
is running.

1. Park the vehicle on a safe place and turn
off the air conditioner.
2. If steam is coming out, turn off the en­
gine. Conversely, if steam is not coming
out, keep the engine idling.
3. After the engine has cooled, carefully
open the hood and check the compo­
nents.
4. If the drive belt is broken, engine coolant
is leaking, or the coolant level is low etc.,
stop the engine immediately and con­
tact a Perodua dealer.
5. Add coolant if the coolant level is insuf-
ficient. ("See Section13".)
The engine is more prone to overheat in
summer. The following should be checked
regularly:
• Water leakage in the cooling system
• Water level of the radiator and reserve
tank
• Radiator fin clogging
• Drive belt tension
If the engine overheats frequently, have the
cooling system checked by a Perodua
dealer.

Flat tyre
WARNING
• If your vehicle has a flat tyre, pull off
the vehicle to the side of the road or
safe place to replace the tyre.
Aviod changing a flat tyre on a
slope.
• Have the passengers off the vehicle
to a safe place.
• Make sure the parking brake is ap­
plied, and the manual transmission
is in 1st or in reverse, Or the auto­
matic transmission in ® range, af­
ter ignition key switch is turned off.
