OPERATION
WORkPIECE SUPPORT
Never use the help of
another person as a substitute for a table
extension or as a support for a work piece
that is longer or wider than the basic
miter table and the attached extension
supports. Never have another person
help feed, support, or pull the work piece
instead of using table extensions.
To use the fence (Fig. 19)
Align the work piece flush against the fence .
This will help to eliminate the tendency of
the teeth of the blade to bind . The fence
can be used to support miter, bevel, and
compound cuts . Upper and lower fences
adjust for added precision .
1 . Loosen the locking knob on the upper
sliding fences to adjust them . The lower
fences can be moved to either of two
positions .
2 . When making a crosscut or a miter cut,
move the lower fence closer to the
blade to better support the work piece .
3 . When making a bevel cut, move the
lower fence away from the blade to
make sure the blade can’t contact the
fence . Pull or push the saw head fully
back or forward when it is in the lowest
position .

Hold-down clamp (Fig. 20)
This clamp easily secures a work piece in
either of two clamp holes behind the fence .
1 . Rotate the knob to tighten the work
piece .
2 . With the saw turned off, move the head
as assembly as if making a cut to check
clearance with the clamps .
3 . The clamp can secure the work piece
horizontally .
Long work piece support
Long work piece need extra support, the
support should be placed along the work
piece so the work piece does not sag . The
support should let the work piece flat on
the base and work table during the cutting
operation . Use optional work clamp or
C-clamp to secure the work piece .
Clamping a wide work piece
When cutting wide work pieces (such as
2 x 8” (5 x 20 cm) boards) the boards MUST
BE clamped using the hold-down clamp
provided or a C-clamp (sold separately) .
